Important Information: Discontinuation of EU Shipping as of August 12th
Dear Brixpando Community,
We have some sad news for all our customers outside of Germany: As of Monday, August 10th, we unfortunately have to permanently discontinue shipping to all EU member states (e.g., Austria, France, Italy).
The only silver lining for you: Because we have to move up the EU shipping deadline due to these changes, Phase 3 of our final clearance sale (with a massive 50% discount!) starts RIGHT NOW today – instead of this coming Monday as originally planned! So take advantage of these remaining hours to grab the last bargains.
It breaks our hearts that you won’t be able to fully enjoy the final days before our permanent closure on August 23rd. We want to be completely transparent with you about why bureaucracy is forcing us to take this step.
What is the reason?
On August 12th, the new European Packaging Regulation (PPWR) comes into force. It dictates that online retailers must appoint a physical, notarized authorized representative in every single EU country they ship to, starting from the very first package.
This representative is legally responsible for packaging waste in that specific country. Here is the catch: hiring these service providers costs several hundred to thousands of euros per country every year in fixed base fees. Since we only shipped very few packages per month per country to other EU countries, this financial and administrative burden is simply no longer viable.
Unfortunately, despite heavy criticism, the EU Commission did not introduce any minimum thresholds or exemptions for micro-businesses. This effectively cuts off small shops like ours from the European single market.
What happens to existing orders?
- Orders already placed: All orders to EU countries will be shipped as planned on Monday and Tuesday.
- IMPORTANT: Please settle any open, unpaid orders immediately so that we can get your packages across the border in time before the deadline.
Who is NOT affected?
Shipping within Germany and to countries outside the EU will continue as usual:
- 🇩🇪 Germany: Remains fully available.
- 🇨🇭 Switzerland & Non-EU Countries: You are safe! Since Switzerland and e.g. the USA are not part of the EU, this regulation does not apply there. Orders from Switzerland are still possible until August 23rd.
